Real Madrid were once again crowned league champions with a 3-0 win over Valencia Basket in the 2024/25 season final series. The 38th Endesa League trophy, lifted by Sergio Llull at La Fonteta, marks a special milestone for the most decorated club in Spanish and European basketball – it’s the 100th in Real Madrid’s history, since they sealed their first Spanish championship success back in 1951.
Real Madrid’s total trophy haul reads 11 European Cups, 38 Leagues, 29 Copas del Rey, 10 Spanish Super Cups, 5 Intercontinental Cups, 4 FIBA Saporta Cups, 1 Korac Cup, 1 EuroCup and 1 Copa Latina, a quite remarkable collection that continues to grow year after year.
The madridistas’ first ever basketball title came in June 1951, when they were crowned Spanish champions in San Sebastián, beating Barcelona 46-37 in the final – led by Freddy Borrás from the bench. The 1950s yielded 9 titles for the club, including the first ever League win (1956/57), the sole Copa Latina success (1952/53) and the first double: League and Spanish Cup (1956/57).
4 European Cups in 5 years
The 1960s was the decade that affirmed Real Madrid’s status as the best club on European soil. Our team took 4 European Cups in almost consecutive fashion (1964, 1965, 1967 and 1968), in a period that saw madridista legends born in the form of Pedro Ferrándiz, Clifford Luyk and Emiliano Rodríguez.
League dominance
Real Madrid boast more league titles than any other club in Spain (38), well ahead of Barcelona (20). Over the course of the 60s and 70s, they dominated the competition, winning 10 consecutive titles between 1968 and 1977. More historic players made a name for themselves during this spell, including Brabender, Cabrera, Cristóbal Rodríguez, Rullán, Corbalán and Szczerbiak.
